The USC Trojans Defense is Going to Cost Them

5 weeks in and the USC Trojans are 5-0.The offense looks amazing, being led by another Heisman type season from Caleb Williams. However, as the season goes on concern about the USC Trojans defense has to be growing. Prior to this week versus Colorado, they had given up 28 points to San Jose State and Arizona State, schools not known for their offense. In their first real test as a defense, they gave up 41 to Colorado, almost blowing a game where the offense scored 48.

This has to be worrisome considering this was the same issue last season. Their 3 losses were in games where their defense gave up 43, 47, and 49 points. This is a USC team that wants to be taken seriously and get a spot in the college football playoff, but look what happens when they face a better than average offense (whom barely could move the ball against Oregon I may add). USC still has to face Notre Dame, Utah, Washington, and Oregon whom all have good to great offense that should shred the Trojan defense. The offense is impressive, but can they win games like this day in and out where the defense surrenders 41 points? We are not so sure.
