The Colorado Buffalos were and perhaps still are one of the biggest unknowns in college football. Prime Time succeeded coaching at Jackson State, but moving up to Colorado was a different animal. If their first matchup is any indication, they could be a legitimate threat to a lot of college teams and may even deserve to be ranked. Let us look at 2 huge performances that helped the Buffalos beat TCU 45-43
Travis Hunter
There are always overreactions in sports week in and week out, this one may be that Travis Hunter is the early Heisman front runner. While we still think it will be Caleb Williams’s award to lose, what Hunter did this week is flat out unprecedented. Playing both offense (Wide Receiver) and defense (cornerback), Hunter amassed a staggering 144 snaps combined. This number is just insane and one has to think long and hard about another player with this many snaps at this high of competition level. Hunter not only played this many snaps, but was a difference maker on both sides. He snagged a ridiculous interception in the red zone on defense, and had 11 catches for 119 yards on offense. It is inconceivable to think this type of usage can hold up, but if it does, this could be a unicorn of a season so sit back and enjoy.
Shedeur Sanders
We have not been able to do a deep scout on Sanders due to the film at Jackson State not being the best to watch, so we do not have an overall opinion on him. What the stats say, though, is a very accurate QB with a good arm who rarely turns the ball over. This is what showed against TCU. Shedeur was 38 of his 47 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns. In his first game for the Buffalos he broke the record for passing yards in a game. He was efficient, accurate, and had a great game. Look for him and Colorado as a whole to build off this incredible game.
