Graded Quarterback Traits:

  • Accuracy: 5/10 (His accuracy with a clean pocket is decent but under pressure it goes away)
  • Anticipation: 5/10 (Actually does a decent job of hitting the deep throws and medium throws with bullet passes. Struggles hitting shorter throws)
  • Arm Strength: 7/10 (Has a pretty live arm and can uncork a throw if needed)
  • Mechanics: 5/10 (His throwing motion just looks awkward. Its not long but for a guy his size it is a low release point it seems)
  • Mobility: 3/10 (Not completely immoble as he can pick up a few yards but not an athlete)
  • Pocket Presence: 1/10 (Was sacked an astounding 40 times and while his offensive line was not good, he has almost no feel for the rush and plays with blinders on)
  • Poise: 5/10 (Could play through contact better for his size but gets antsy when he is in the pocket for too long. Also puts his head down when moving around the pocket)
  • Progressions: 6/10 (Gets through reads pretty quickly but does panic too fast when he has to spend more time than normal on reads)

Prospect Grade: 37/80; 46% (Potential Backup)

Projected Draft Day: 3/UDFA

Player Comparison: Jacob Eason

Player Summary:

McKee has some fans as a potential sleeper in this year’s draft. Supporters citing a bad supporting cast as a potential for upside. While he has a good arm and can hit the deep ball, that is where his positives end. He falls apart under pressure and is one of the worst at sensing the pressure you will see. For a guy who got no favors from his offensive line it is shocking he did not learn to better feel the rush. He can stick on a roster as a strong armed backup but he also could be on the practice squad just as easy.
