- Other Notes: Wyatt is one of the multiple defensive lineman that tested off the charts for his size at the combine.
Strengths: Elite athleticism for his size, uses speed to get around tackles when on the end, while listed as a tackle he looks more comfortable at the end position
Weaknesses: Part of the Georgia rotation, unspectacular production, gets overpowered by guards more than you want to see, looks somewhat stiff despite impressive athleticism, not as effective a pass rusher as hyped up to be, okay against run but does again get overpowered,
Projected Draft Day: Day 1
Player Comparison: More athletic Dalvin Tomlinson
Player Summary: Devonte Wyatt is one of a few players in this draft whose athletic testing has vaulted them into first round consideration. When you watch film though, there are a lot of concerns that pop up. First, he had average to below average production for a player that is supposed to be an asset in the run and pass game. He got overpowered by guards more than you would like to see, he appeared very stiff at times, and was not super effective in the run or pass. However, his athletic profile is elite and he did look more comfortable using that athleticism at the end position versus the tackle. Our comp is a more athletic Dalvin Tomlinson. A fine players, albeit not a superstar, Wyatt’s skills seem akin to him (as he is also a player who plays tackle and end). He will most likely be a day one pick, but there’s a reason a ton of these athletic freaks do not workout a decent amount of the time and Wyatt’s film shows this.
