Post NFL Draft Trade Candidates

The Draft came and went in what felt like a blink of an eye. With the draft comes new faces to all 32 teams. For some vets they can celebrate like Brian Drew when Sonny Weaver took Vontae Mack. However some vets will feel the way Brian Drew felt when Sonny Weaver traded with Seattle for the No. 1 Overall Pick. We are here to cover players that we believe could be on the block post draft. As well as some locations for post nfl draft trades.

Quarterbacks

Bailey Zappe, New England Patriots

The Patriots pulled a Washington Redskins move and drafted not one but two QBs in the same class.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Chargers

Malik Willis, Tennessee Titans

Willis’s time in Tennessee is definitely coming to an end this offseason.

Best Fit: Baltimore Ravens

Jake Haener, New Orleans Saints

Haener getting caught on PEDs and the drafting of Rattler probably means his time is up after one year.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Rams

Running Backs

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

In one of their many head scratching moves this draft, Morris and co decided to take another RB in Jase McClellan from Bama. It just feels like Allgeier could be on his way out into a better situation.

Best Fit: New York Giants

Israel Abanikanda, New York Jets

Robert Saleh we guess is starting to treat his RBs like his DL rotation. Despite Izzy flashing as a rookie, we suspect that in a room that includes Breece hall and now Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, Izzy is the one the Jets get calls about.

Best Fit: Dallas Cowboys

Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans

Despite a strong rookie season, Pierce got out played in 2023 by Devin Singletary and traded for Joe Mixon this offseason. The writing feels like it’s on the wall for Pierce.

Best Fit: Baltimore Ravens

One of Miles Sanders or Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

With new HC Dave Canales taking Texas RB Jonathon Brooks in the 2nd it means that Sanders or Hubbard are going to be shipped to the highest bidder.

Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears

With Swift being signed this offseason and Roschon going into his 2nd year we think Herbert is the odd man out.

Best Fit: Tennessee Titans

Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers

The Guerendo pick and Schrader UDFA pickup suggests that the 49ers could move on from ol’ reliable

Samaje Perine, Denver Broncos

The drafting of Audric Estimé feels like the end for Perine.

Isaiah Spiller, Los Angeles Chargers

Spiller has no ties anymore with the new regime and is getting buried behind Harbaugh/Roman’s hand picked guys.

Wide Receivers

George Pickens, Pittsburgh Steelers

Pickens is on here because it feels like the trend for Pittsburgh WRs. But the other reason is Arthur Smith. You can tell by the Steelers draft class that Smith has brainwashed Tomlin into buying into an offense with no forward pass. As good a blocker as Pickens is we can also see him throwing a fit about not getting the ball and finding himself a way out.

Best Fit: Kansas City Chiefs/Buffalo Bills- Buffalo keeps claiming they don’t have the cap to trade for a WR. They do if said WR is on a rookie deal.

Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans

With D-Hop already there and Callahan bringing in Ridley, we could see a situation where Burks gets moved with his lack of production and inability to stay healthy through his first couple seasons.

Best Fit: Baltimore Ravens

John Metchie III, Houston Texans

With the addition of Diggs we have to assume someone in that room gets moved. We think Woods is a much needed vet presence in the room. Metchie is still young and could attract a better offer.

Best Fit: New Orleans Saints

Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts

It just feels like Pierce never panned out and with one of the more shocking falls of draft AD Mitchell was drafted to replace Pierce.

Best Fit: Buffalo Bills

Jonathan Mingo, Carolina Panthers

We aren’t of the belief a project 2nd round pick like Mingo gets dealt, but that seems to be the talk of the town with the addition of the SCLU Special Teams Coordinator Farmer Fran… we mean Xavier Legette.

Best Fit: Dallas Cowboys

Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos

Sutton, Franklin, Reynolds, Mims… the writing is on the wall for a Patrick trade.

Best Fit: New York Giants

Tyquan Thornton, New England Patriots

Another example of a purely speed WR not working out. Thornton should garner some interest.

Best Fit: Minnesota Vikings

Terrace Marshall, Carolina Panthers

A project receiver who just never panned out

Best Fit: Buffalo Bills

Tight Ends

Brevin Jordan, Houston Texans

It was either Quitoriano or Jordan, and Jordan provides receiving/athletic upside.

Best Fit: Miami Dolphins

Offensive Line

James Daniels, Pittsburgh Steelers

The writing on the wall for one of the Steelers IOL and we don’t think it’s Seumalo or Herbig.

Best Fit: Minnesota Vikings

Trevor Penning, New Orleans Saints

Penning not working out, who could’ve predicted that……….. With Fuaga being drafted it feels like the beginning of the end for the 1st round bust.

Best Fit: Detroit Lions

Trey Pipkins III, Los Angeles Chargers

Joe Alt is taking Pipkins RT spot.

Best Fit: Washington Commanders

Defensive Line/EDGE

Trey Hendrickson, Cincinnati Bengals

Hendrickson requested a trade and it feels like the Bengals have set themselves to move on.

Best Fit: Chicago Bears

Grady Jarrett, Atlanta Falcons

It’s hard for us to see Jarrett actually getting moved, but if he gets unhappy with playing time(because they added a ton of DL in the draft) or just unhappy with the new regime in general he could get moved.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Rams

Azeez Ojulari, New York Giants

Zeez has flashed when he’s on the field, but the big issue is his inability to stay on the field due to injury. The Giants just traded a 2nd for Brian Burns which means Zeez could be on the move.

Best Fit: Tennessee Titans

David Ojabo, Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens just drafted another Big 12 pass rusher. Similar to Zeez, Ojabo hasn’t been able to stay on the field due to injury. Ojabo seems like the odd man out in a very crowded room. Ojabo should still have some trade value.

Best Fit: Philadelphia Eagles

Joe Tryon, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tryon just never lived up to expectations. With the emergence of YaYa Diaby and now the drafting of Braswell, Tryon could be moved with no second thoughts.

Best Fit: New England Patriots

Baron Browning, Denver Broncos

Jonthan Cooper, Nik Bonitto, now Jonah Elliss. Browning feels like the odd man out in the room and we believe on upside and versatility could garner a lot of interest.

Best Fit: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Levi Onwuzurike, Detroit Lions

The Lions added DJ Reader to pair with McNeill. They also drafted Broderic Martin in the 3rd last year, have Paschal as a rushing DT, and just drafted Wingo. Levi’s the odd man out.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Chargers

Phidarian Mathis, Washington Commanders

Unless Newton is going to be kicked out to DE, Mathis is now 4th on the depth chart in the DT room. Despite being a 2nd rounder, they could move on.

Best Fit: Houston Texans

Roy Robertson-Harris or Davon Hamilton, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars draft was head scratching. They drafted not one, but two DL. The biggest issue with them taking two is that they extended both RRH and Hamilton last year and then just this offseason paid Armstead $17 mil AAV. It probably means one of RRH or Hamilton are going to be in a new jersey next year.

Linebackers

Quay Walker, Green Bay Packers

Reports came out last year that GB wasn’t super thrilled with how Walker was coming along in coverage. Now follow that up with GB taking not one, but two Day 2 LBs, one of which(Ty’Ron Hopper) we feel in certain ways is similar to Walker. Don’t be surprised if he gets moved before the start of the season.

Best Fit: Philadelphia Eagles

Jamin Davis, Washington Commanders

Jamin Davis is in a very awkward position right now. There’s been turnover in the coaching and front office of the team. Davis, their 2021 1st round pick, has no ties to anyone in the building now. New HC Dan Quinn brought in his own guys at the LB spot with the additions of Wagner, Luvu, Walker, Chinn(who we heard may play backer) and now 5th round pick Jordan Magee. Davis feels like the odd man out here.

Best Fit: New England Patriots

Shaq Thompson, Carolina Panthers

Having Shaq on this list is going to draw some people’s attention. Do we truly think Thompson gets moved? Probably not….? But you have to think the Panthers just signed Josey Jewell and drafted not one, but two new ILBs. Now think about the LB market, very very rarely do LBs get taken in the first round, so realistically taking a 2nd round LB is like taking a 1st round LB and taking a 3rd round is like taking a 2nd etc etc. The Panthers just drafted Trevin Wallace in the 3rd(more like a 2nd) and Mike Barrett in the 7th(6th). Now some will argue that they added athletic LBs to get Jewell off the field on 3rd downs. Yes, but they could’ve just taken Barrett or taken one in the 4th-5th rounds. Taking Wallace in the 3rd to us feels like it COULD be a possible Thompson replacement. Just something to keep an eye on.

Best Fit: Tennessee Titans

Pete Werner, New Orleans Saints

The Saints won’t move DeMario Davis. Davis has been the heart and soul of this defense for years now. The Saints also just added Willie Gay in FA and Jaylan Ford in the draft. Werner feels like the LB that could garner the most assets if moved.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Rams

Jonas Griffith, Denver Broncos

Griffith has dealt with injury after injury, but has looked good when healthy. With Barton added in FA and stud 2023 prospect Sanders still waiting his turn, don’t be surprised if someone tosses a 7th to Denver for a high end dart throw.

Best Fit: Los Angeles Chargers

Brian Asamoah II, Minnesota Vikings

The reports on Asamoah haven’t been positive seemingly since his rookie year. Now in a room with Ivan Pace, Blake Cashman, Kamu, and Van Ginkel(Inside-Outside versatility) Asamoah should garner trade interest as a dart throw 3 down backer.

Best Fit: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Troy Andersen, Atlanta Falcons

An athletic specimen who never quite lived up to the hype that surrounded him during his draft process. Andersen is buried in a room that inclues Elliss, Landman, Hellams(if they continue to play him at backer), and now Bertrand.

Best Fit: Seattle Seahawks

Cornerbacks

Kaiir Elam, Buffalo Bills

The writing has been on the wall for Elam since his rookie season. The question now is who’s willing to take a chance.

Best Fit: Denver Broncos

Paulson Adebo, New Orleans Saints

With the Saints drafting Kool-Aid McKinstry in the 2nd we can see a situation where Adebo gets moved for the right price

Best Fit: Jacksonville Jaguars

Ambry Thomas, San Francisco 49ers

Despite playing significant snaps for the 49ers secondary, Thomas has struggled. He gets picked on a decent amount while also adding a good amount of penalties. Thomas could garner some interest with the 49ers addressing the secondary in the draft.

Best Fit: Dallas Cowboys

James Bradberry, Philadelphia Eagles

With how bad Bradberry’s regression looked last year there’s no way the Eagles get much for him, but he’s 100% on the block at this point.

Best Fit: On the couch in retirement or the USFL

Andrew Booth, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings continue to add pieces to their CB room. It has been one of their more addressed positions in the last couple years. Booth’s best hope is to get traded and compete elsewhere.

Best Fit: Indianapolis Colts

Safeties

Lewis Cine, Minnesota Vikings

Cine suffered a horrible leg injury his rookie year and has felt like a forgotten players since. Cine feels buried, but could still get traded and pan out else where.

Best Fit: New Orleans Saints/Atlanta Falcons

One of the bodies in the Colts room… They are 5 deep
