Our Five Biggest Winners from NFL Free Agency

With free agency winding down, we are discussing the 5 teams we feel are the biggest winners from NFL free agency 2023 . This does not include every team that had good signings, just the ones we like the most.

Denver Broncos

They did not make a ton of moves, but the ones they did make were big needs. They added two starters on the offensive line in Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers. They replaced Dreā€™Mont Jones immediately with a similar player in Zach Allen. They also added some key depth with Samaje Perine and Chris Manhertz. If the goal is to try and right the ship with Russel Wilson, this was a major success so far.

Philadelphia Eagles

They are winners first and foremost with how many players they were able to bring back. Faced with an insane task of trying to get back 17 plus players of starter or high end depth status, they somehow did better than we could have expected. They were able to retain Bradberry, Slay (after trade rumors of Slay were running wild), Cox, Kelce, and Scott. They brought in Rashaad Penny, Nicholas Morrow, Justin Evans, and Greedy Williams on very team friendly deals.

Detroit Lions

Talk about addressing some massive needs. Detroit added heavily to their lowly secondary with Cam Sutton, CJ Gardner Johnson, and Emmanuel Mosely. They also went and got David Montgomery, Graham Glasgow, and re-signed Alex Anzalone. Detroit continues to trend up.

Carolina Panthers

This is a disclaimer, we are not involving their trade in this discussion, only their free agency moves. Carolina went and got a great veteran for whatever rookie (our money is Stroud) that they decide to go with in Andy Dalton. They got a new lead back, Miles Sanders, on a very affordable deal. Adam Thielen brings a much needed vet presence to the wide receiver room. As does Hayden Hurst and Vonn Bell in their respective positional groups. We still do not love the trade, but they have made great moves in free agency.

Houston Texans

Houston has quietly had one of the best free agencies of any team. They started early with the signing of Robert Woods. Then they got Jimmie Ward, Case Keenum, Andrew Beck, and Mike Boone on multi year deals. However, where they won is the one year deals they got players on. Sheldon Rankins, Dalton Schultz, Denzel Perryman, Devin Singletary, Noah Brown, Cory Littleton, and others should be very good players for the Texans. We expect then to take advantage of the first resign rights for players like Schultz, and Ryans already has the Texans looking better.
