With round 1 in the books, we turn our attention to day 2. The are The Gridiron Review’s NFL Draft Pick Grades for Rounds 2 and 3
NFL draft order 2024: Round 2
33. Buffalo Bills (via Carolina Panthers)- Keon Coleman, WR, FSU
Grade: A
Adds much needed size. Has the upside of a WR1 (better than Gabe Davis). Should be Josh Allen’s new number 1
34. Los Angeles Chargers (Via Trade W/New England Patriots)- Ladd McConkey, WR, UGA
Grade: A
He is a good blocker. He will block with the best of them for Harbaugh. All jokes aside it is a great value and will likely become Herbert’s safety blanket.
35. Atlanta Falcons (Via Trade W/Arizona Cardinals)- Ruke Orhorhoro, DT, Clemson
Grade: F
This is a REACH. And, to make things worse, they traded up to take him. Atlanta is having an awful draft here.
36. Washington Commanders- Jer’Zhan Newton, DL, Illinois
Grade: B+
This is amazing value for a team that lacks a lot of pass rush. However, when taking Jayden Daniels, he has to be the priority. They get slightly knocked for not taking something to help Daniels.
37. New England Patriots (Via Trade W/Los Angeles Chargers)- Ja’Lynn Polk, WR, Washington
Grade: D
At least the position was right. But wow if this is not more of what they already have. Polk, at best, is a good WR3 out of the slot. He struggles to separate and is just not that good
38. Tennessee Titans- T’Vondre Sweat, DT, Texas
Grade: B-
Position and player type wise, it is a good move. However, Sweat has the off the field concerns that cannot be ignored. Still not a bad pick though.
39. Los Angeles Rams (Via Trade W/Carolina Panthers (via New York Giants)- Braden Fiske, DL, FSU
Grade: B
The position is right, and the player is a good fit. They continue to revamp the defensive line.
40. Philadelphia Eagles (Via Trade W/ Washington Commanders (via Chicago Bears)- Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa
Grade: D
This is not a bad pick value wise, but Philly ignores multiple other needs for this pick. You cannot predict who falls, but this paired with the Mitchell pick is truly head scratching.
41. New Orleans Saints (Via Trade Green Bay Packers (via New York Jets)- Kool-Aid McKinstry, DB, Alabama
Grade: B
Good fit as a better man coverage player than zone. Should pair well with Lattimore and company.
42. Houston Texans (via Minnesota Vikings)- Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
Grade: A+
Houston is building a juggernaut. They have some of the best depth in the league at every position. Corner was one of the few question marks due to injury concerns, and they add great value here.
43. Arizona Cardinals (Via Trade W/Atlanta Falcons)- Max Melton, CB, Rutgers
Grade: A
Great fit for both sides. We had him as underrated and has elite closing speed.
44. Las Vegas Raiders- Jackson Powers-Johnson, OL, Oregon
Grade: A-
If Vegas wants to run the ball, this is a great pick. It involves a slight position change, but still is a good fit.
45. Green Bay Packers (Via Trade W/New Orleans Saints (via Denver Broncos)- Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M
Grade:B+
46. Carolina Panthers (Via Trade W/Indianapolis Colts)- Jonathan Brooks, RB, Texas
Grade: D+
This really feels like an unnecessary pick that didnt solve a need. They have Hubbard and Sanders. While they do not have ties to the new regime, it is still a good duo. This could have been O-line, corner, or other positions. The value itself is decent.
47. New York Giants (via Seattle Seahawks)- Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
Grade: A-
A really good fit for the new DC.
48. Jacksonville Jaguars- Maason Smith, DT, LSU
Grade: D+
This is a reach, but they passed on a corner that is desperately needed despite Rakestraw and Tampa there.
49. Cincinnati Bengals- Kris Jenkins, DT, Michigan
Grade: C
We do not feel like Jenkins is anywhere near the development level of a day 2 pick. That being said, he has a ton of physical upside and goes to one of the best possible situations for his talents. He can learn from BJ Hill and Rankins.
50. Washington Commanders (Via Trade W/Philadelphia Eagles (via New Orleans Saints)- Mike Sainristil, DB, Michigan
Grade: A
51. Pittsburgh Steelers- Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia
Grade: B-
Hes gonna start right away for better or worse, but we are not the biggest fan of his. We imagine he is replaced in the next two years. Also somewhat signals the Steelers catering to an Arthur Smith offense which is… something.
52. Indianapolis Colts (Via Trade W/Los Angeles Rams)- Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
Grade: A
The character concerns are overblown, though he fell for some reason. However, this is insane value and the Colts are really setting up Richardson for success.
53. Washington Commanders (Via Trade W/Philadelphia Eagles)- Ben Sinnott, TE, Kansas State
Grade: B
There are multiple tight ends we would have taken here, but we still like the fit and the player here.
54. Cleveland Browns- Michael Hall Jr, DT, OSU
Grade: A-
One of our biggest sleepers on the defensive side goes in the second. Hall has pass rushing development that is way ahead of most DTs in this class. Massive upside here.
55. Miami Dolphins- Patrick Paul, OT, Houston
Grade: C
A bit of a reach, but he should get the needed time to sit and learn and develop.
56. Dallas Cowboys- Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE, Western Michigan
Grade: A
Did Jerry Jones get replaced with a clone who makes better choices. After last year’s terrible class, they are drafting really well here. Kneeland offers a lot of upside, and can take over when they decide to not extend Micah.
57. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Chris Braswell, EDGE, Alabama
Grade: D+
This has more to do with our evaluation of Braswell. We do not love him and think he is far more developmental than game ready.
58. Green Bay Packers- Javon Bullard, DB, Georgia
Grade: A+
We did not expect him to fall this far, and Green Bay fills a need here.
59. Houston Texans- Blake Fisher, T, Notre Dame
Grade: B+
60. Buffalo Bills- Cole Bishop, DB, Utah
Grade: B-
61. Detroit Lions– Ennis Rakestraw Jr, CB, Mizzou
Grade: B+
62. Baltimore Ravens- Roger Rosengarten, T, Washington
Grade: B+
63. Kansas City Chiefs (Via Trade W/San Francisco 49ers)- Kingsley Suamataia, T, BYU
Grade: A-
64. San Francisco 49ers (Via Trade W/Kansas City Chiefs)- Renardo Green, DB, FSU
Grade: C
Right position but feels like a reach. San Fran is gonna San Fran.
NFL draft order 2024: Round 3
65. New York Jets (Via Trade W/Carolina Panthers)- Malachi Corley, WR, WKU
Grade: B
We have a few receivers over him, but the fit is great here. He can take the quick passes from Rodgers and make some YAC magic.
66. Arizona Cardinals- Trey Benson, RB, FSU
Grade: B-
The value is decent, but he does offer a different play style than what they have. He is a different player than Conner but will occupy the early down back role.
67. Washington Commanders- Brandon Coleman, OL, TCU
Grade: B
68. New England Patriots- Caedan Wallace, T, Penn State
Grade: C
69. Los Angeles Chargers- Junior Colson, LB, Michigan
Grade: B+
70. New York Giants- Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky
Grade: B+
71. Arizona Cardinals (via Tennessee Titans)- Isaiah Adams, G, Illinois
Grade: D
72. Carolina Panthers (Via Trade W/New York Jets)- Trevin Wallace, LB, Kentucky
Grade: B-
73. Dallas Cowboys (via Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions)- Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State
Grade: A
74. Atlanta Falcons- Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington
Grade: B+
They finally addressed the pass rush and got some great value. Trice is not overly athletic, but has a lot of power and should play DE in the 3-4.
75. Chicago Bears- Kiran Amegadjie, T, Yale
Grade: A
76. Denver Broncos- Jonah Elliss, EDGE, Utah
Grade: B
The value is very good. However edge rusher is not a pressing need and a receiver or DB may have been better here.
77. Las Vegas Raiders- Delmar Glaze, T, Maryland
Grade: C
78. Houston Texans (Via Trade W/Washington Commanders (via Seattle Seahawks)- Calen Bullock, S, USC
Grade: A
Great fit, massive upside selection here.
79. Indianapolis Colts (Via Trade W/Atlanta Falcons (via Jacksonville Jaguars)- Matt Goncalves, T, Pitt
Grade: B+
80. Cincinnati Bengals- Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama
Grade: A
Great deep threat, can be a factor at all parts of the field.
81. Seattle Seahawks (via New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos)- Christian Haynes, G, Uconn
Grade: B+
82. Arizona Cardinals (Via Trade W/Indianapolis Colts)- Tip Reiman, TE, Illinois
Grade: D
They have Trey McBride, he is not much of a receiver, and he is basically a blocker only. You do not draft blocking tight ends this early. They also drafted Marvin Harrison Jr and Jonathon Brooks. They are having a bit of an identity crisis.
83. Los Angeles Rams- Blake Corum, RB, Michigan
Grade: C-
Value wise this is good, but did Kyren Williams not just have a good season. Slightly puzzling to be completely honest.
84. Pittsburgh Steelers- Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan
Grade: C-
He is a good blocker so Arthur Smith will be happy. We are not nearly as high on him as others, but at least it is the right position.
85. Cleveland Browns- Zak Zinter, G, Michigan
Grade: A
Top player talent wise, but injury will allow him to learn from Joel Bitonio.
86. San Francisco 49ers (Via Trade w/Houston Texans (via Philadelphia Eagles)- Dominick Puni, OL, Kansas
Grade: B
87. Dallas Cowboys- Marist Liufau, LB, Notre Dame
Grade: C
88. Green Bay Packers- MarShawn Lloyd, RB, USC
Grade: D
Do not love this fit. They just payed a ton of money to Jacobs and brought back AJ Dillon
89. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Tykee Smith, DB, Georgia
Grade:A+
90. Arizona Cardinals (via Houston Texans)- Elijah Jones, DB, Boston College
Grade: D+
91. Green Bay Packers (via Buffalo Bills)- Ty’Ron Hopper, LB, Mizzou
Grade: A-
92. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Detroit Lions)- Jalen McMilan, WR, Washington
Grade: A
93. Baltimore Ravens- Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State
Grade: C+
Penn State EDGE to Ravens pipeline continues. Not in love with Isaac but trust Baltimore to develop.
94. Philadelphia Eagles (Via Trade W/San Francisco 49ers)- Jalyx Hunt, EDGE, Houston Christian
Grade: C
95. Buffalo Bills (via Kansas City Chiefs)- DeWayne Carter, DT, Duke
Grade: D
Value was another WR. Carter has some upside but other positions would have been better.
96. Jacksonville Jaguars (compensatory)- Jarrian Jones, DB, FSU
Grade: C
97. Cincinnati Bengals (compensatory)- McKinnley Jackson, DT, TAM
Grade: D
What was the point of taking Kris Jenkins? They are different players but still. You can only have so many snaps to go around at 1 position.
98. Pittsburgh Steelers (compensatory, via Philadelphia Eagles)- Payton Wilson, LB, NC State
Grade: A+
99. Los Angeles Rams (special compensatory)- Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami
Grade: B-
100. Washington Commanders (special compensatory, via San Francisco)- Luke McCaffrey, WR, Rice
Grade: D
This feels way too early. He has a ton more development to go and does not add something different to the room.
