Myles Murphy Is a Top 2 Pass Rusher in the NFL Draft

In most mock drafts by the Draft “Experts” in the media, Will Anderson Jr and Tyree Wilson are the top two edge rushers selected. Anderson definitely deserves to be in the conversation, but Tyree Wilson is being greatly overhyped. It is our opinion that another pass rusher, Myles Murphy, should be considered for the best EDGE in this class.

You may wonder why we say this. Firstly, Murphy has the best burst in the class on film. He has the uncanny ability of timing the snap and using his elite athleticism (4.51 40 time) to get into the backfield and blow the run or pass up before blockers have much of a chance to react. It is hard to find a comp for him but his elite explosiveness is Myles Garrett like (but we do not mean that is his comp).

Murphy also has an extremely high motor while rarely giving up on plays, playing through the whistle constantly. His pass rushing development is decent, with good enough moves and counter moves, but he does have a lot of potential to grow there.

Lastly something to consider, Clemson had three of the highest recruits of their class on the defensive line (Murphy, Bresee, and Henry), yet none of them reached truly unlocked their lofty potential. All three are great athletes and it suggests Clemson may not be great at developing pass rushers. This suggests that all three of them have the potential to far exceed their college production and Murphy’s stats this year (6.5 sacks, 37 Pressures) could be his floor.
