Graded Position Traits:

  • Athleticism: 9/10 (Should test as a very good athlete with blend of speed and agility)
  • Bend: 7/10 (Uses burst combined with very good bend to get by tackles)
  • Burst: 10/10 (His jump is noticeable right from the get and he uses it every play. May be good to alternate here and there but he has insane burst)
  • Durability: 10/10 (Three straight seasons of play without injury)
  • Hands: 9/10 (Very advanced hand sage. Slaps, stabs, and more with them. Does need to work on getting inside hand advantage when trying to set edge or overpower tackles)
  • Pass Rushing Moves: 9/10 (Shows a couple different pass rushing moves like dips, slaps, and swim moves)
  • Run Defense: 6/10 (He’s okay against the run but nothing amazing. Especially in option plays he gets caught in between one of the reads and does not make a decision)
  • Strength: 6/10 (Strength for frame is a little underwhelming. He is not weak but you rarely see bull rush or edge setting on his tape. He much more relies on speed)
  • Tackling: 7/10 (Pretty good at wrapping people up and not letting them get away. Seems to have a limited tackle radius though)
  • Versatility: 7/10 (Can play on the outside or be a threat in the middle with his burst. He did drop back in coverage at times but do not expect him to do it a lot at the NFL

Prospect Grade: 80/100; 80% (All-Pro Potential)

Projected Draft Day: 1

Player Comparison: More Developed Travon Walker

Player Summary:

Myles Murphy is our favorite edge from this class. He has some of the best burst you will see from a pass rusher, and has elite size to pair with this athleticism. His combine testing should be off the charts for his size. He also has a variety of pass rushing moves to choose from and will only get better at the next level. The comp is a hard one to come up with. His game has flashes of Myles Garrett and Jason Pierre Paul, but he measured and tested very close to last year’s #1 overall pick, Travon Walker. That being said, his development as a run stopper and pass rusher is decently ahead of where Walker was last year.
