Justin Herbert got PAID with his new 5 year mega deal to remain the Chargers Quarterback for the foreseeable future. The deal is 5 years, $262.5 million including $133.7 million in guaranteed money. The cap hit for his 2024 season is lowered, while is 2025 hit is a staggering $100 million.
This deal makes sense for both sides as Herbert is one of the best young QBs in the league, and Herbert signs his deal before Burrow and others sign for more. The Chargers made the questionable choice of retaining coach Staley, though they showed commitment to Herbert by drafting Quentin Johnston in the first and adding other weapons later. Herbert for his part has had one of the best starts to a career in history and should only get better.
Los Angeles still does not feel like they are ready to take down the Chiefs, yet they area roster with a lot of talent that could be very competitive in the AFc if they can figure out how to stop the run.
