New York Jets wide receiver Corey Davis, announced that he is retiring from the sport of football. He had published his statement on Instagram and discussed how he’d been thinking about the decision for some time now. However, he didn’t use the word retirement and used the words “stepping away” from football and didn’t provide a reason why. He thanked the Jets organization for taking care of him and how he has his children and family that wants to spend time with.
Davis never quite lived up to the draft hype and struggled with injuries throughout his career. That being said he still had a total of 273 receptions and 3,879 receiving yards. Over his career, he had also started 67 games and an overall catch percentage of 59.2% with 17 touchdowns. We wish Corey Davis the best of luck as he embarks on this new part of life without football.
