Arizona Cardinals: D
- Jonathan Gannon as Head Coach
- Drew Petzing as OC
- Nick Rallis as DC
It is hard to believe the Cardinals fired an underwhelming head coach to hire another. Jonathan Gannon was not even allowed back onto the Eagles plane and was told to stay and interview with the Cardinals. This is the politist firing we have ever heard of in the NFL. It feels like the Cardinals give him credit for the defensive success of Philly, but there is a strong chance he held them back. He also turned in an all time bad Super Bowl performance with no adjustments made.
Denver Broncos: B
- Trade for Sean Peyton
If anyone can turn this team, and Russell Wilson, around it is Sean Peyton. His experience with undersized quarterbacks and building an offense around one should greatly improve the Broncos in 2023. However, was he worth the trade haul that they gave up for him? Is any coach? It is hard to justify this as nothing more than a desperation move to right the disaster that Wilson and Hackett were in year one. It needs to work for Denver and the whole front office or they may be out of their jobs.
Indianapolis Colts: A-
- Shane Steichen as Head Coach
- Jim Bob Cooter as OC
- DeAndre Smith as RB coach
- Tom Manning(Potential TE coach, but no position specified yet)
Unlike the hiring of Gannon, Steichen should be considered a great decision by the Colts. Unless Sirianni is the one designing all the plays and calling them, Steichen crafted a masterful offense. Sure, his second half of the Super Bowl was disappointing, but it is hard to find an offense as effective as the Eagles this season. For this to work, though, Irsay needs to stay out of the roster decisions. He is terrible at choosing what quarterback to roll with, and they could end up drafting the wrong one.
Carolina Panthers: A
- Frank Reich as Head Coach
- Josh McCown as QB Coach
- Thomas Brown as OC
- Ejiro Evero as DC
- Chris Tabor as ST Coordinator
- Devin Fitzsimmons as Assistant ST coach
- Parks Frazier as Passing Game Coordinator
- Duce Staley as Assistant HC and RB Coach
- Shawn Jefferson as WR coach
- James Campen as Offensive Line coach
- Robert Kugler as Assistant Offensive Line coach
- Todd Wash as Defensive Line coach
- Peter Hansen as LB coach
- Tem Lukabu as OLB coach
- Jonathan Cooley as CB/Secondary coach
- Bert Watts as Safeties coach
- DeAngelo Hall as Assistant DBs coach
- Jim Caldwell as Special Assistant
- Dom Capers as Senior Defensive Assistant
Frank Reich got an unfair amount of hate for his stint with the Colts. As mentioned above, Irsay had way too much influence on the team and seemed to force Reich to use veterans like Rivers, Wentz, and Ryan. None of these really worked, and he was fired for his efforts. The Panthers have hired him, and provided they give him the freedom to pick his quarterback, this should work out well. We also included the names of the impressive staff he is putting together, including McCown as QB coach, Evero as defensive coordinator, and Staley as RB and assistant HC. These are respected people and former players that should greatly benefit Reich.
Houston Texans: A+
- DeMeco Ryans as Head Coach
- Bobby Slowik as OC
- Matt Burke as DC
- Jerrod Johnson as QB coach
- Jake Moreland as TE coach
- Shane Day as Senior Offensive Assistant
- Jake Olson as Assistant Senior Assistant
Houston finally made a great hire for their head coach. We hope they give him the time to properly build the team and create a winning roster. They should be patient and worry about the quarterback next year, and instead spend time amassing assets while putting together the best group of players they can. Throwing in a quarterback too early would be a bad idea, but Ryans is a great hire for the Texans.
