1. Jalen Carter
6”3, 300
Round:1
Grade: Multi All Pro Potential
Comp: Jonathan Allen
Summary:
The hype is real for Carter. He has insane burst for his size, a very developed pass rushing set, wild strength, and can play all over the line. The only red flag is his health as he has multiple lower leg injuries in his career. We have him comped to Jonathan Allen, one of the best pass rushing DTs in the league, but the truth is Carter could be even better. He is a different player than Aaron Donald, so you may need to look to the NFL of yesteryear for a truly accurate comparison, but Allen is very good.
2. Calijah Kancey
6”1, 281
Round:1
Grade: Pro Bowl Talent
Comp: Ed Oliver
Summary:
Undersized but a high level athlete. Kancey has the pass rushing ability to be great at the NFL level, but his run defense is just average. The comps to Aaron Donald are unfair to Kancey, as he is much closer to Ed Oliver (which is not bad).
3. Bryan Bresee
6”5, 305
Round: 1
Grade: Pro Bowl Talent
Comp: Dre’Mont Jones
Summary:
Breese is a decent athlete with very good burst at times and the potential to be decent as a pass rusher. He offers flexibility to play all over the line and can impact the run game right away. If he can develop the more nuanced parts of his pass rushing repertoire he can be a high upside player. He has missed a lot of time in his career with injuries, but if he can pass all medicals and test well at the combine, his upside could have him as a top 15 selection.
4. Gervon Dexter
6”6, 312
Round: 2
Grade: Starter Potential
Comp: Christian Barmore
Summary:
Great athlete for his size. Offers a nice combination of run defense and pass rush, while not being elite at either. There is a lot of growth projection for him especially with the pass rush. Expect him to be a day 2 pick.
5. Adetomiwa Adebawore
6”2, 282
Round: 2
Comp: Justin Madabuike (But even more athletic)
Summary:
A freak athlete that should be valuable in the run while pass rushing develops. People may be surprised to see Adeboware ran faster than Kancey and weighed in as heavier. We feel he will be better served playing inside than as an end but he can do it if necessary.
6. Siaki Ika
6”4, 358
Round: 2
Grade: Starter Potential
Comp: Danny Shelton
Summary:
Ika can offer a lot as a run defender. His pass rushing development is better than expected, but his athleticism is also worse. He was receiving comps to Vita Via but they are nowhere near the same athlete. Ika also showed up at the combine a lot heavier than his listed weight in college. There are some concerns here
7.Zacch Pickens
6”4, 291
Round: 3
Grade
Comp: Maurice Hurst
Summary:
The potential has never been in question with Pickens, and the Senior Bowl and Combine showed this. It is the production that has not matched thus far. We expect Pickens to go somewhere in the third to a team that hopefully has a history of developing high upside defensive lineman (like the Eagles). He flashes great pass rushing potential with the strength to play against the run, but it is too inconsistent for him to be an early pick. It is hard finding a defensive tackle at Pickens’s size and athletic ability so Hurst is not the perfect player to compare him to, but he is close. There is potential to also be someone like BJ Hill if he develops
8.Jalen Redmond
6”2, 291
Round: 3
Comp: More explosive Ross Blacklock
Summary:
Redmond, as noted in the comp, is very explosive. He shows ability to penetrate in the gaps and disrupt the pass and run. He definitely could use some added weight and strength, but he could start out as a rotational pass rusher on the interior. Blacklock may be unknown as a comp, but he was very highly touted coming out of college and seems to be one of many Houston has been unable to develop recently.
9.Keanu Benton
6”4, 309
Round:3
Comp
Summary:
Benton is a pretty good athlete who is great at using his hands to displace blockers at the snap and also as the play develops. He takes on double teams fairly well and flashes some upside as a pass rusher. Personally we would like to see him add a little more strength in order to become an immovable object in the run game, but teams may decide they want to focus more on his pass rushing. Still good potential either way.
10.Mazi Smith
6’3, 323
Round: 3/4
Comp: Davon Hamilton
Summary:
Despite an impressive 34 on the bench, Smith’s strength is hit or miss on film. He does not penetrate well and offers almost nothing as a pass rusher. There is room for development but he appears to be a rotational run defender only for the time being.
11.Dante Stills
6”3 ½ , 286
Round: 3
Comp
Summary:
Stills played a lot of end at West Virginia, but may do better to add some weight and make the permanent move inside. He has a decent feel for pass rushing and run defending but we would not consider either elite. He could develop into something more than his current projection, but in our opinion he offers middle of the road starter potential on the inside of the defensive line.
12.Jaquelin Roy
6”3, 305
Round: 4
Comp
Summary:
Roy appears to have athletic upside for his size, but needs to play with a lot more strength to be a starter at the NFL. Far too often was he supposed to occupy the middle yet was getting pushed back in one on ones. As it stands now he should not be expected to eat up double teams, but again does have athletic upside that teams may want to take a chance on.
13.Colby Wooden
6”4, 273
Round: 5
Comp
Summary:
Wooden is definitely more of an end than tackle at the next level, unless teams want him to add weight. He is a pretty good athlete who looked much better off the edge than on the interior. He is a developmental prospect who took plays off more than once and did not make crucial tackles in big games (like Alabama in 2021) that seemed simply due to a lack of hustle.
