We take a look as some of the biggest Week 1 Headlines from NFL Training Camp News.
The Drama has started with the Jets Before Cameras are Rolling
The Jets are set to be featured on Hard Knocks this year, but have already had their fair share of drama. Curious enough, they did not even do anything. Sean Peyton threw a lot of shade their way in an interview that has to have more background information than we know, and Aaron Rodgers stuck up for his team and head coach by somewhat threatening Peyton. A truly odd exchange that we cannot say we have seen before.
Joe Burrow, Jalen Ramsey, Kenneth Walker, Zach Charbonnet and More Suffer Injuries
It happens every year, but it seems like the list of injuries early in camp have been extremely noteworthy. Joe Burrow has a calf strain that could have him out weeks. Jalen Ramsey got surgery for a meniscus injury that may sideline him until December. Both Kenneth Walker and Charbonnet have injuries and are out indefinitely. Other players like Calijah Kancey, CJGJ, and more have gotten hurt as well. It is part of the game sadly.
Brock Purdy Dominates First Team Reps while Lance seems to be 2nd in Line
As shocking a recovery as you will find in the NFL is Brock Purdy right now. He is getting some extra rest but by all accounts is a go for training camp. He has taken a majority of the 1st team reps whenever he is out there, with Trey Lance running with the starters in his absence. Lance has struggled and also looked great depending on the day.
New England Meets with Multiple Free Agent Running Backs
Did someone say Rhamondre breakout season? Billy B must have heard them and decided he wanted to add a big name to the backfield. New England has met with Fournette and Elliot this week, and continues to make it obvious they want more power in the room after Rhamondre.
Jim Irsay, Jonathan Taylor Colts Drama Saga
This whole situation is ridiculous. Irsay is not the most stable owner in the world so he always will make headlines for this reason or another. Meanwhile Taylor thinks he is the second coming of Edgerrin James with the reported money he is asking for. Taylor’s agent is extremely unprofessional about the whole situation and all the while Taylor is on the PUP list after having foot surgery in his third season. Not the longevity you’d expect from a player reportedly seeking $16 million AAV. The running back market is in a precarious situation and Taylor is not helping
New Ownership Group’s Effect Already Noticeable with Commanders
On the brighter side, look at the difference the new ownership group has made already. Washington’s turnout from fans at training camp is night and day compared to last season. It is great to see and we hope a name change can completely flush out the memory of Dan Snyder once and for all.
