DeAndre Hopkins Signing with the Tennessee Titans

What feels like the last big free agent (though do not get us wrong there is still plenty of talent) for the 2023 NFL Offseason has signed. DeAndre Hopkins is signing a two year deal with the Tennessee Titans. For the Titans, it is a no brainer. This team is desperate for wide receiver help next to second year receivers Treylon Burks and Kyle Phillips. They now add a very talented vet for Burks to learn from who can still play at a high level.

For Hopkins, this is a little more puzzling. Take a look at what Hopkins wanted in his new team.

The only box the Titans check here is stable management. Unless Hopkins really got along with Willis, who does seem to love the game, Tannehill has never been known for that. Not to say he is Kyler levels, but it is not like Tannehill gets lauded for his love of the game. Tennessee also has a good defense, but it is by no means great. Landry is coming off a torn ACL, they have a lot of uncertainty at linebacker, their secondary is a revolving door of day 2 busts, and Byard’s situation is up in the air. We do not feel as though Hopkins’ market materialized like he expected. We are assuming if the choice was indeed between New England and Tennessee, he went to the team that seems to have more fun. Because on paper, we think New England has the better defense and a better team overall.
