- Needs a lot of growth this season to reach his ceiling, but staying in Miami may not have been the best decision for this.
Van Dyke did not take the step forward we expected last season, and most of it was not his fault. He was under duress constantly playing behind a brutally bad offensive line. They struggled mightily against schools like Southern Miss. It ended up resulting in an injured shoulder that would linger for months. We hope he has shed this injury and can focus on realizing his true potential. The range of outcomes for him is vast, as he has the potential of Herbert, but the floor of Darnold. Staying at Miami was certainly a decision, and we wonder if he would have been better off transferring out of that awful scheme to a team that could help him grow more. Time will tell if it was a bad decision or not.
