- We had concerns about his speed, and his 40 works for us
- Guyton’s rep very very strong in wave drill

Tyler Guyton Summary:
The Positives
- Played both right and left tackle
- Raw
- Former TE
- Pretty smooth transition to second level for the most part
- Pulls and moves pretty well, speed in question
- Speed no longer in question
- Rescout showed us his footwork is actually very good, much better than we thought originally
The Negatives
- Inconsistent strike point
- Ability to sustain blocks at times worries us
- Don’t believe we saw him in a 3 pt stance at all, and barely bends in his 2 pt stance. At 6’8” this is concerning due to a leverage concern. Tight lower body?
- In run blocking it looks like his eyes go immediately to second level, and it causes him to whiff on first level blocks
- Saw this more so in Oklahoma State game than Texas or Iowa State
- 2nd level climbs lack control sometimes. Needs to learn when to pump the breaks
- Anchoring needs work
- Despite great pulls, very rarely does he make an impactful block
Side Notes
- Right Tackle and only one year starting experience at OU, wish he would’ve stayed another year
- Okay, so now that Jeremiah said that Guyton was a former TE. We can definitely see it in his build and the rawness to his game
- Feet and lower body usually have to make up for upper body
- Iowa State film was pretty clearly the best, followed by Texas. For whatever reason, Oklahoma State was the roughest
Tyler Guyton is a higher end developmental prospect. His film looks decent, like in a need be scenario he could probably start, but he needs time with the right O-Line coach. He pulls(although speed in question), and moves well, but he’s raw with lots of upside. Upper and sometimes lower body mechanics lead to issues such as inability to sustain blocks.
Updated 3/17/24: Essentially everything stated in our previous summary remains true with the exception of the part about his speed being in question. We actually really love the way we phrased it, Guyton is a higher end developmental prospect. Realistically with where he’s at right now we believe he’s an Early-Mid Round 2 pick, but on upside we know he’s going to sneak into the backend first round. We just hope he doesn’t get drafted by the wrong team. We think he needs to be in Philly or Dallas or with a team that runs a quick game/RPO offense, or needs to sit for a year. A team like Pittsburgh or Miami would be an unideal situation for him. The biggest thing to understand about Guyton is that his best football is ahead of him.

- Good, not great footwork
- It feels like he’s giving up too much ground before he even makes contact with the defender
- When blitzing off his side, his eyes drift, not sure who to block.
