Trey Benson Summary:
The Positives
- Displays good juke moves and elusiveness for his size
- Decent athleticism
- Fights through contact
- Shocking 40 time
The Negatives
- Not a great blocker
- Not a lot of pass catching production
- Does not always hit the running lanes with authority
- Short strider which causes balance issues on occasion
Benson offers some good upside as an early down back and as a pure runner. He projects best in our opinion as part of a 1-2 punch where a more electric pass catcher is his partner. He is a bigger back with surprising elusiveness but does his best work reading running lanes and fighting through contact. He is not a good blocker and does not catch a lot of passes which limits his upside as an every down back. He reminds us a lot of Tyler Allgeier and we would not be surprised if, like Allgeier, he goes from a day 3 back to a 1000 yard rusher in the right system.
