Rome Odunze Summary:

The Positives

  • Runs very sudden routes especially on comebacks
  • Offers value as a returner
  • Makes a lot of people miss after the catch
  • Great body control
  • Good hands on balls on target

The Negatives

  • Was not required to run the most diverse route tree out there
    • Routes were basic and it is hard to tell how sudden he can be
  • Despite elite after the catch, play speed may just be average
  • Does not always adjust well and catch throws away from his body

Odunze feels very similar to Deebo except he is 6 ‘3. He is very good after the catch but utilizes power to bully tacklers as much as juking. Similar to Deebo, his route running is not the best but can be used in a variety of ways depending on how creative the OC is. He has not been asked to run a diverse route tree at Washington, nor does he appear to have elite play speed, but he is lethal with the ball in his hands and is great at tracking deep balls. We expect him to be a 1st rounder easy. The comps to Larry Fitzgerald are unfair to Odunze, as we do not see them as similar players nor does Odunze (or anyone really) have the hands that Fitz had.
