Quinyon Mitchell Measurables:
- Height: 6’ (NFL Combine)

- 40: 4.33 (NFL Combine)- 2/29

- Broad Jump: 10’2” (NFL Combine)- T-12/26
- Bench: 20 (NFL Combine)- 1/9
- Other Notes:
- Max Melton looks faster than Quinyon Mitchell running, but somehow Mitchell had faster time…. Don’t get it
- Mitchell does not show 4.33 speed on tape in our opinion, so that is shocking
- When they showed the Simulcast between Arnold and Mitchell doing the line drill. It looks like Mitchell is either slow in a back pedal or slows down when he has to react to the coach telling him to flip. Rep did not look the same as Arnold
- In the W drill, Hart, Mitchell, Sainristil look like they take too many steps to break
- Mitchell’s rep in Teryl Austin drill 2 didn’t look good
- Max Melton looks faster than Quinyon Mitchell running, but somehow Mitchell had faster time…. Don’t get it

Quinyon Mitchell Player Summary:
The Positives
- Plays far off, but it doesn’t feel like it’s out of fear.
- It looks like he’s trying to keep everything in front of him, so he can try to jump it
- Flashes okay tackling
- Hips pretty fluid
- Footwork is pretty good
The Negatives
- Provides absolutely nothing in run support
- For a player who looks like he wants to be a ball hawk all he had was 1 INT this season
- Luke Altmyer picked on Mitchell a decent amount
- 6 Targets, 4 completions, 1 PBU, 1 overthrow by Altmyer
- Against Buffalo
- 8 Targets, 3 completion, 3 PBU, 2 overthrows
- He’ll pursue the ball carrier sometimes, but you can watch him slow down as he gets anywhere close. He wants nothing to do with contact when possible
- Low effort blitzer
Quinyon Mitchell might be one of the worst prospects we’ve ever watched. He provides literally nothing in run support. Against the pass you can tell he wants to be a ball hawk by the way he plays, but he has one pick on the year. In two games we watched him, he got targeted 14 times. 3 of the throws were overthrows, he did get 4 PBUs, but gave up 7 completions. The fact that he’s being projected a 1st rounder over prospects like Khyree Jackson and TJ Tampa(to name a couple) is absolutely mind boggling.
Updated 3/18/24: We will not apologize for giving Mitchell a 20% grade originally. His Toledo film is the reason we find CBs hard to watch. That being said, Mitchell has saved himself in our eyes during Senior Bowl week. We even noted it in our Senior Bowl Recap Article. From what we can tell Toledo’s system really did not showcase the type of prospect Mitchell COULD be. It’s kind of like if Giannis were to try to get into a smart car… something is very clearly out of place.
In Senior Bowl 1-on-1’s Mitchell showcased an ability to press and play physical as well an ability to run and cover most receivers. Was he perfect? No, but it was more impressive than his actual game film. Dating back to our original scout of him, we noted his hips are pretty fluid and footwork is pretty good. It showed true Senior Bowl week and his hip fluidity showed at the Combine. His footwork and overall drill work at the Combine was a bit rougher than we thought it’d be, but that’s the reality. Whoever takes him needs to understand he’s a bit of a development project, and his footwork in particular is going to need cleaning up, but there’s athleticism and a skillset there ready for the right opportunity. We believe his success will be dependent on the team that takes him. We have faith in the right situation he could pan out to be the prospect people are hyping him up to be, but given the wrong situation he’s going to make someone in the organization look really bad. That’s where the comp comes into play. Mitchell in the right situation could pan out like Riq Woolen did, or he could flame out before it even starts like Kaiir Elam.
