Complete Scouting Report of Nate Wiggins | What You Need to Know

An in depth and complete scouting report and draft prospect profile of Clemson Cornerback Nate Wiggins for the NFL Draft.

Prospect: Nate Wiggins

School: Clemson

Age: 20

Nate Wiggins Measurables:

  • Height: 6’1” (NFL Combine)/6’1.5” (Pro Day)
  • Weight: 173 (NFL Combine)/182 (Pro Day)
  • 40: 4.28 (NFL Combine)- 1/29

  • Broad Jump: 10’7” (NFL Combine)- 8/26
  • Other Notes:
    • Measures in 1” shorter and 12 lbs lighter at Combine than ESPN had listed
    • 4.29????????? Holy hell Nate Wiggins, what a freaky prospect.
      • We had him pinned as maybe a high 4.4/low 4.5
      • Wiggins hurt… S.O.B. Wanted to see him go through drills. But apparently he thought he could run 4.2? Would’ve loved to see that, would’ve been nuts. Despite popping and “being on fire” hopefully it’s nothing super super serious.
    • Wiggins injury not as serious as originally believed…Awesome, best news of the day!
    • Despite his speed the rest of his testing was a bit underwhelming

Tape Watched: 2022: UNC, Wake Forest, Florida State, Syracuse, North Carolina State; 2023: UNC, Miami

Prospect Grade: 82%

Projected Draft Day: Early Round 1

Player Comparison: Higher End Dominique Rodgers–Cromartie

Nate Wiggins Player Summary:

The  Positives

  • Shows lockdown ability in man or zone
  • Smooth player
  • Physical/hands on is when he looks best
  • Tackling good, not great
    • Tackling much better and more consistent in 2023
  • From start of 2022 season to end, ton of development and improvement
  • Very patient, very smart
    • UNC tried to run a swing pass and Wiggins didn’t bite on the swing immediately
    • Not quick to jump slants and hitches, very aware of potential double moves
  • Fluid hips
  • BIG TIME hustle player
    • Forced two fumbles in 2023 running down offensive players who broke loose and clubbed the ball out
  • Still feels raw, more upside to unlock

The Negatives

  • Struggles to get off blocks
    • Struggles continued in 2023
  • 2022 Wake Forest game is HORRIBLE- under thrown balls killed him, PI
  • Not great about turning head on deep routes
  • Needs to come down with potential INT more than he does

Nate Wiggins is a dawg. Wiggins is one of our draft crushes, and we believe he could end up being the best CB of anyone we’ve watched since we started and that includes names like Sauce, Stingley, Gonzalez, and Witherspoon. Wiggins does have a few weaknesses right now, but there’s a lot to love about him that we believe will overshadow the negatives. The best part about Wiggins is that we believe he’s still raw, there’s more to unlock there than he’s showing on tape.

Updated 4/2/24:

  • Combine numbers and rank added to measurable portion of profile
  • Projection switched from “Day 1” to “Early Round 1”
  • Comp switched from “Sauce Gardner” to “Higher End Dominique Rodgers–Cromartie”
  • Negatives Removed
    • Not super fast, speed in question at times. Maybe high 4.4/low 4.5
