The  Positives

  • Strong Arm
  • Quick release
  • He is a lefty
  • Maneuvers Pocket Well

The Negatives

  •  Mobility is just okay
  • Accuracy is all over the place
  • Interception numbers are deceiving as a lot of dropped picks show up on film
  • Underthrows a ton of receivers despite a lot of arm strength
  • Struggles to progress through reads
  • Age

Penix is not someone that has been on my love list for a while, but he has shown growth enough to enter first round territory. He possesses a very good arm that just requires a flick of the wrist and can deliver touch and bullet passes. That being said, he has the potential to be a turnover machine at the NFL level. The lack of interceptions in college does not portray the number of turnover-worthy throws he committed. If he goes to the right team with good weapons (IE Pittsburgh, Minnesota) he could flourish early. However if he goes to a rebuilding team early that lacks talent, he could struggle mightily.
