Malik Nabers Summary:
The Positives
- Good Hands
- Fluid athlete
- Decent route runner
- YAC potential
- Good speed but it is greatly exaggerated
The Negatives
- Runs good routes but not asked to run a diverse tree
- Routes are more rounded than sharp
- Drops way too many contested catches
Nabers had a great season at LSU, and is WR2 on many boards. While he has great hands and looks fluid on film, his routes could use refinement and his overall athleticism is worse in our opinion than people seem to think. Especially his speed, which is very overrated (unless the combine states otherwise). Even in his massive day against Alabama, it was not as special as the stat line suggests. He was not unguardable; there was a lot of production on broken plays where Daniels was scrambling. Nabers also had 3 plus contested drops in that game as well. This is not to say he has no talent but the mocks are greatly overreacting with him as a top 10 player and top 3 at the position in his class. He should not be labeled exclusively a slot receiver, though he may do his best work there. He reminds me of David Bell out of Purdue, but perhaps a bit more athletic.
