Laiatu Latu Summary:
The Positives
- Uses hands very effectively to get past blockers
- Decent burst
- Great chop/swipe move that is used going both inside and outside
- Very effective inside pass rushing while standing up (not as great on outside)
- Good enough at setting an edge in the run game
The Negatives
- Age
- Lacks power despite size
- Bend is not ideal
- Needs to learn an effective counter move or two
Latu has had back to back impressive seasons from a statistical standpoint. While he is on the older side for a rookie, he should make an immediate impact. He has great hand usage and possesses great chop/slap moves. He lacks power to bull rush but can set the edge enough in the run game to not be a liability. His bend is not the best and results in tackles routing him way too wide on outside moves, and he does not have much of a counter to deal with this. That being said he shows a lot as a pass rusher and would benefit from learning from an established pro while continuing to hone his craft.
