Kingsley Suamataia Summary:

The Positives

  • Can generate movement on the line in run blocking
  • Moves pretty well
  • Really good hand fighter, always fighting for position

The Negatives

  • He got a lot of chipping help from TE and backs in pass pro.
  • Don’t think I saw him in a 3 pt stance once
    • Not sure if scheme or personal choice.
  • Pass pro is up and down

Kingsley Suamataia is the first round offensive lineman it feels like no one is talking about. Suamataia is a prospect that reminds us(in shades) of Detroit Lions Pro Bowl OT Penei Sewell. He’s a prospect that we believe will make a move to the interior of the offensive line based on size and tape, but could absolutely stay at tackle and still be a first rounder. He does a lot of things well. The biggest challenge facing us while scouting him was that BYU helps their OTs in pass pro with a lot of chipping from either their TE or RB. It was the same thing when we scouted Blake Freeland last year. When Suamataia wasn’t getting help his pass pro felt very inconsistent, which is in part why we believe a kick to the interior could be great for him.
