Keon Coleman Summary:

The Positives

  • Very physical receiver especially on jump calls and uses hands to get free
  • Good runner with ball in hands especially for size
  • Very good at tracking deep passes and highpointing throws.
  • Great size
  • Fluid athleticism though not a special athlete
  • Gauntlet drill showed impressive game speed over testing

The Negatives

  • Sporadic production from game to game
  • Speed may just be average (though he wins mainly with size anyway)
  • Slightly disappointing 40 (though his gauntlet speed was one of the best)

Coleman’s hype is easily justifiable. It is hard to think of a receiver in recent memory that is as skilled at jump balls and using hands effectively and physically to make the catches. Mike Evans was our initial comp because of how similar they seem in play style, but Coleman measured in 2 inches shorter and almost 20 pounds lighter, so we have adjusted our comp to Allen Robinson. Watching college film on Robinson will show a lot of similarities to Coleman. Though Coleman has the potential to be a menace in the red zone in a a way Robinson has not been.
