Jayden Daniels Player Summary:

The  Positives

  • High Level Athlete and Runner
  • Quick throw RPO experience
  • Short accuracy is pretty good though scheme opens up a lot of wide open throws
  • Decent arm most of the time

The Negatives

  • Arm strength is all over the place. Sometimes he makes impressive throws and other times underthrows by a lot. Likely mechanical
  • Deep Accuracy needs a ton of work
  • Heavily relies on the first read to be there
  • Took some massive, unnecessary hits
  • Accuracy as a whole is a major concern
  • Chance to be a turnover machine at the next level

Daniels is the 2023 Heisman Winner and he deserved it with a very impressive season in the air and on the ground. However, it is in our opinion that he is not a sure thing and has much more development than the overreaction mocks would have you believe. Daniels is a high level athlete at the quarterback position and operates well in a quick strike offense. Unfortunately his arm strength is hard to gauge due to his deep accuracy being all over the place. He underthrows a ton and it is hard to see why (whether it be an arm strength concern, mechanics, etc). It is possible he learns to get more of his body into throws that allows him to become more consistent, but we do not see him reaching elite starter status because of his accuracy concerns. He could really benefit from some time sitting to refine his throwing, because as it stands now he needs a lot of work in that area. It is hard finding a good comp for Daniels, as he is not as dynamic a runner as Lamar or Fields, yet does not possess the arm of Malik Willis, Vick, Cunningham, and others. The closest we could find is Kordell Stewart, who was a great athlete with a good arm but also did turnover the ball a lot.
