Javon Bullard Player Summary:

The  Positives

  • Complete secondary versatility
  • Pretty good in bump and run
  • Bullard put on 15 lbs according to ESPN. Listed at 180 in the summer, now 195
    • Another 3 lbs added since end of season
  • Sound, reliable tackler
  • Fluid hips
  • Good use of hands to break up deep passes
  • Not only played in, but balled in the Senior Bowl
    • Showed a strong ability to direct his way through traffic
    • Showed he’s a smart zone player
      • On the first National Team TD, Bullard read Nix’s eyes to find the dragging TE behind him. National team still scored, but Bullard was only one close to almost making the stop

The Negatives

  • Inconsistent block shedder
    • Flashes a strong ability to do it
  • TEs can overwhelm
  • Can be a little too flat footed at the snap at times
  • At times can get a little too handsy in coverage, particularly man

Javon Bullard is one of the most interesting DB prospects we’ve ever watched. We don’t know which position to classify Bullard with. We are going to classify him with the Safeties, but we truly believe that Bullard could play sound, high level football at Safety, Nickel, and Cornerback. He’s a complete DB prospect from his tackling to his coverage skills, any team would be extremely lucky to land him in this year’s draft.
