Ja’Tavion Sanders Summary:
The Positives
- Good athlete
- Best games were against some of Texas’s biggest matchups
- Good after the catch
- Does not seem to drop a ton
- When actually asked to run real routes (which was not often) he looked capable and effective
The Negatives
- Terrible at all blocking (form, effort, downfield, in line, etc)
- Very inconsistent production
- Not asked to run a lot of routes
- TD numbers leave a lot to be desired
- Disappointing 40 time
The athletic upside is definitely there along with decent hands where Sanders could be a pass catching factor at the NFL level. However, he is one of the worst blocking tight ends you will find. He whiffs in line, misses downfield, and just has very little feel for that part of the job.I have serious concerns about him becoming a full time starter because of this, but if he goes to a team that will not ask him to block he has potential. Regardless, he should be a very good TE2 at the least.
