Jase McClellan Summary:

The Positives

  • Not afraid to lower the shoulder
  • Should have a lot of tread on the tires
  • Shows patience to let running lanes develop
  • Decent speed
  • Seems to have good hands
  • Good change of direction
  • Prototype size

The Negatives

  • Tries to bounce too much outside
  • A little too patient at times
  • Vision comes and goes
  • Despite decent change of direction, he does not possess great juke moves
  • Season long run was only 34 yards

Jase McClellan should be a better pro than college player. He is a true power back that has some decent speed to match and good patience. He waits for the lanes to develop when running north and south (perhaps too often but results in more positives than negatives) and has the ability to push through contact and lay the boom on the defenders. He offers some upside as a pass catcher as well. However, he bounces runs outside way too much and his vision comes and goes with reading lanes correctly. He is not gonna make defenders miss often (instead he will run through them) and should be a decent power back with full time starter potential while he learns the position more.
