Frank Gore Jr Summary:

The Positives

  • Displays a natural elusiveness that not many in this class have
  • Uses patience to wait for running lanes to open when none are there right away
  • Change of direction may be the best in class
  • Possesses a great juke move
  • Pretty good athleticism though would not say his speed and burst are elite

The Negatives

  • A little undersized
  • Played lackluster competition
  • While power is somewhat surprising for size, it is still not good overall
  • Less pass catching production than you would expect though that is more scheme than not.

If Frank Gore Jr were playing at a bigger school, his name would be all over must watch prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft. He possesses elite elusiveness and bounce that stands out in a class full of power backs. He uses a good combination of patience and urgency to find running lanes and get into high gear quickly. He is top of the class in multiple areas including change of direction, juke moves, and elusiveness. He is undersized but has average power which is all he needs. He should be a good pass catcher in the pros, yet does not have the numbers at the moment. There is the caveat that he plays small school competition, which is true, but that also means his blocking is not great either. It is hard to predict where Gore will end up in the NFL draft, but he is very reminiscent of Shady McCoy. We do not know that anyone in recent memory possesses Shady’s elusiveness ability (and Gore is not on that level), but the way Gore moves and bounces and makes people miss is certainly familiar. There may be a better comp updated as this season progresses.
