Ennis Rakestraw Jr Player Summary:

The  Positives

  • Likes to press and be physical
  • Tackles really well
  • When he tackles high(which isn’t too often), he goes for the strip on the ball
  • Better in man coverage
    • Let him press, be hands on, and play physical

The Negatives

  • Missed multiple games in 2023 due to injury
  • Didn’t feel like an every down starter. It looked like he rotated at the CB spot opposite Abrams-Draine
  • Can get very grabby at times
  • Doesn’t show much urgency to get down hill and help against the run
    • Definitely not afraid of contact though
  • Footwork needs to be improved
    • Looks like he opens his hips too much making it more difficult for him to break on/with routes
  • Turns and runs in zone too quick, want to see him play out of a pedal more than he does

Ennis Rakestraw Jr is a CB prospect that has the ability to be a first round pick. Right now we lean to the fact that he is more of a Day 2. We think the fact that he was a rotating starter mixed with the games he missed due to injury will drop him a little bit. His lack of urgency to get down hill and help against the run will also drop him a bit. However, he is a strong coverage prospect who tackles very well.
