Devin Leary Player Summary:
The Positives
- Does not flinch in the slightest in the face of pressure
- Functional athlete
- Arm is strong enough
- Throws with good touch
The Negatives
- Long arm motion
- Major shoulder injury
- Not the best at noticing defenders in coverage
If Leary is able to come back from his torn pec and return to normal play (and that is certainly an if), it will be a great story. However, even without the injury he is an average prospect at best. His motion is waaay too long and as a result he struggles with pump fakes and quick throws. He struggles reading and seeing defenders in zone coverage. He does have a good enough arm and athleticism, but there is too much missing to be a serious prospect. Leary gets a new start at Kentucky where Will Levis struggled every single season he was there (we do not know that this is a big upgrade for Leary). He may be able to stick as a backup but that is yet to be seen.
