Dallas Turner Summary:
The Positives
- Possesses decent strength
- Uses long arms to get blockers off balance
- Best move is inside of the tackles
- Shows rare examples of burst but uses it sparingly
- Read & Reacts pretty well
- Insane testing at the combine
- Despite the testing his best move is a stab move where he comes back in (almost a counter)
The Negatives
- Does not explode out of stance
- Really struggles to disengage when blockers get their hands on him
- Very few pass rushing moves (needs a ton of development here)
- When he does try speed moves tackles dont really buy it
- Pretty stiff athletically despite the testing
- Struggles to beat tackles on the outside
- Rarely played off ball despite athletic profile
I am going to be lower on Dallas Turner than most and will say it here first, BUYER BEWARE. Watching the tape shows more moldable clay than a ready made player who is much more developmental than the hype suggests. His combine testing was off the charts, yet despite this he still struggles to get around tackles and doesn’t look insanely bendy either. The tape shows a more stiff athlete than his outrageous testing does (though the testing shows the upside for much more). Turner has very few moves in his tool belt and just engages blockers more often than not. He has immense upside and is a great athlete, but is not a great pure pass rusher. He may be better served as an occasional blitzer with a more off ball role (despite not playing this much) while he develops.
