Brian Thomas Jr Summary:

The Positives

  • Excels at tracking the ball
  • Soft Hands
  • High Points very well
  • Decent Speed but high end athleticism as a whole
  • Slippery after the catch
  • While not asked to run a lot of routes, does throw subtle moves in routes to get open
  • Insane speed testing for size (in our opinion better than Worthy’s)

The Negatives

  • Not asked to run a diverse route tree

With all of the hype surrounding Malik Nabers, Thomas is somewhat going under the radar a hair. I do not get the hype with Nabers personally, however I do think Thomas is the LSU receiver to have in the 2024 draft. He has great size to match good speed and great jumping ability (which I believe the combine will show). He has very soft hands and does a lot of the small things and subtleties on his release and in his routes to get open. Thomas needs more development in his route tree because he just was not asked to do a ton at LSU, but his high point ability and ball tracking skills should allow him to be a lethal red zone/deep threat to start his career, at the minimum.
