Blake Corum Summary:

The Positives

  • Can explode out of stance to get the carry
  • Keeps legs churning through contact
  • Decent vision
  • Slightly above average elusiveness
  • Pinballs off of tacklers
  • Gets into high gear in a hurry
  • Speed is good not great

The Negatives

  • Will be 23/24 during his rookie campaign with a lot of mileage
  • Not a lot of pass catching experience
  • Elusiveness is okay but not special
  • Knee Surgery that ended his 2022 season

The Doug Martin comparison is almost too perfect. Both are undersized but with the muscle and power of much larger backs. Corum is a no nonsense runner with effective vision and pretty good explosiveness. His power is evident on most carries, especially his leg strength. He has good enough speed and elusiveness (though neither are special) and has more pass catching ability than his production would indicate. He is going to be old for a rookie especially at RB and has a lot of touches to his name. We do not subscribe to the theory that just because you carried the ball a lot in college means you will have a short career, but in Corum’s case he has already had injuries. He will most likely be a day 2 pick that starts right away and may or may not give up 3rd down duties to another back.
