Our Bears Ideal Offseason Plan/Thoughts:

  • Don’t feel obligated to resign anyone… you were a 3 win football team
  • Resist the urge to trade Fields for a QB in this class, especially if it is for Bryce Young or Will Levis. Revisit the conversation next year if Caleb Williams is a possibility.
  • Address the RB room, but don’t overpay. Herbert looked good this season, and you drafted Ebner last year. Find someone who completes the RB room(need a power back)
  • Find a WR1 via trade or in the draft. Neither Mooney or Claypool is a WR1 but could be great as WR2 and WR3.
  • Address the offensive line! Fields was sacked 55 times(T-Most). If you think Fields is the answer at QB, you have to protect him. If you trade down, put some thought into someone like Paris Johnson.
  • Address the entire DL. Either take Jalen Carter at pick 1 or trade down to a team dumb enough to trade up for a QB and take Murphy/Anderson.
  • Address the LB position. Sanborn was a great UDFA pickup last year. In FA, think about veterans like Lavonte David. You have an extremely young team who could benefit from experience and veteran leadership.
  • If you plan on holding onto the first pick, don’t be stupid, take Jalen Carter. He’s the best prospect in the draft this year. There are teams dumb enough to trade up for a QB this year(Colts *cough cough*). If you don’t love Carter, take advantage of the stupid, trade down and get everything you can. You do not have a winning roster right now, you have a lot to build.
  • DON’T BE CHEAP! You have the most cap space and need to spend in order to improve.
