Graded Position Traits:

  • Athleticism: 6/10 (A pretty good athlete for his size)
  • Burst: 8/10 (Shows the potential to have a quick get off at the snap and blow up plays)
  • Durability: 5/10 (Torn ACL in 2021, missed time in 2022 with a medical issue that required analysis)
  • Field Vision & Awareness: 6/10 (Can diagnose run plays correctly but just rushes assignments too often instead of reacting towards the direction of plays. Also has to work on continuing through the initial rush to get to the quarterback that sticks in the pocket)
  • Hands: 6/10 (Can get hands on lineman but needs to work not over extending as well as using hand placement to over power people)
  • Pass Rushing Moves: 6/10 (Has a decent slap move when lined up on the outside, but needs to work on counters and how to win more on the inside)
  • Run Defense: 8/10 (Is going to be a bigger factor in the run again versus the pass)
  • Strength: 7/10 (Seems fairly strong but multiple form issues compromise him in this area)
  • Tackling: 7/10 (Missed a couple sacks because he could not wrap up the quarterback)
  • Versatility: 7/10 (He can play all over the line but unsure how well he will hold up against athletic tackles on the outside)

Prospect Grade: 66/100; 66% (Starter Potential)

Projected Draft Day: Day 1

Player Comparison: Stephon Tuitt

Player Summary:

Breese is a decent athlete with very good burst at times and the potential to be decent as a pass rusher. He offers flexibility to play all over the line and can impact the run game right away. If he can develop the more nuanced parts of his pass rushing repertoire he can be a high upside player. He has missed a lot of time in his career with injuries, but if he can pass all medicals and test well at the combine, his upside could have him as a top 15 selection.
