Brock Purdy played the first drive of the game for the 49ers today as they took on the Broncos in preseason action. Purdy is just 5 ish months removed from UCL surgery and his recovery is nothing short of incredible. This is usually a baseball injury (Tommy John Surgery repairs the UCL ligament) and has pitchers out for a year plus.
Bryce Harper, of the Phillies, completed one of the fastest comebacks ever for the injury but only hit when he returned. To see Purdy on the field again going 5/6 like he has not missed a beat is wild. Sports medicine is always improving and innovating, but if the new norm for UCL surgery is 5 months, that would be spectacular. Purdy has already been announced as QB1 by Kyle Shannahan and we hope he continues to build his legacy as the greatest Mr Irrelevant ever.
