Zach Frazier Summary:

The Positives

  • Better run blocker than pass blocker
  • Pitt film is really good
  • Plays with a nastiness to him

The Negatives

  • Footwork needs improvement
  • Heavy leaner and reacher… and lacks the feet to keep up
    • Didn’t see this as much in the rescout
  • Inconsistent tape
    • Highs aren’t too high
    • Some lows are really rough
      • Looked pretty overpowered most of the Penn State game
  • Worried about penalties with how much he tries to throw people

Side Notes

  • More of an anchor than a mover
  • Doesn’t really climb to second level. A lot of the time he waits for backers to come to him

Zach Frazier film was okay, but once you really get into the film the list of negatives start to build up over the positives. The positive is that he’s a decent run blocker, outside of that technique and mechanics are rough. He’s a slightly clunky mover, he’s a leaner and reacher, his footwork need improvement, strength can be in question. A road to playing time is going to be a long one for him.

Updated 4/25/24: We liked Frazier a decent amount more than we did in his original scout. We started off with the Pitt film which makes him look like a potential first rounder, but when you get into the Penn State film we saw a lot of the same. It looked like he was overpowered most of the game. For better or for worse, Frazier could possibly start for someone on Day 1, but you’ll probably get a mixed bag like the Jags did with Fortner where you will have to bring in a vet a few years down the road. The other option is draft him as a down the line successor because we do think he could be a starter with some time.
