Jonathan Taylor Given Permission to Seek Trade by Colts

Barely any time has passed since Jim Irsay stated he was excited to see Jonathan Taylor on the field and playing for the team. Yet, news broke today that Taylor now has permission to seek a trade. This is a much more logical conclusion to thai dramatic saga, as it seemed odd that Taylor was all of the sudden back at camp and fine with the team. So what will he cost and what teams make the most sense?

Jonathan Taylor Trade Package

Early suggestions seem to state that Irsay wants a first for Taylor. We do not know what he is on (maybe old age) but there is almost a 0% chance of this happening. The market has never been lower for running backs and Taylor is still rehabbing an injury. He has yet to take the field or be cleared for play. While a special player, Taylor’s value may be nothing more than a third at best. Christian McCaffrey got a 2,3,4, and 5 and he is the most dynamic back in football (while also dealing with injuries). Our best guess is that Taylor will be worth a third that may be a conditional second as well as day 3 picks. Whether Irsay would accept this is another story. So which teams could be in?

Jonathan Taylor to the Dolphins

This is the name that popped up around the rumor mill already. They have a lot of injury prone back with Mostert and Wislon, and rookie Achane just got injured in the preseason. We personally do not love this match but we could see where Miami would have interest.

Jonathan Taylor to the Cowboys

Dallas has been very relaxed in trying to find a thunder to Tony Pollard’s lightning. We really like Pollard, but he is coming off a fairly severe injury and they do not have a ton of insurance behind him. Deuce Vaughn is a gadget that may be able to take a heavy workload in a pinch, but we see Dallas wanting to do more. Taylor would be an incredible match with Pollard.

Jonathan Taylor to the Rams

Let us start off by saying the Rams have no business making this deal. However, we are not Cam Akers believers and behind him is not a lot. The Rams had a ton of success with Todd Gurley being the focal point of the offense, and have struggled to replace his production. The Rams are notorious for sending draft picks for players and this could be the final move for one more season with Stafford and McVay and Donald.

Our Prediction

We think the Cowboys make the most sense. Jerry likes taking big swings and this would be a massive one. Dallas also could pay more than other teams considering their window is closing fast (though was it ever really open to begin with?)
