Graded Quarterback Traits:

  • Accuracy: 7/10 (Deep accuracy is very good, short and Throw on the run are not the best and you would like to be a lot better)
  • Anticipation: 9/10 (A lot of throws that led superstar receivers open especially on deep throws)
  • Arm Strength: 8/10  (Natural arm strength, low effort but not an absolute cannon)
  • Mechanics: 10/10 (very quick and repeatable and smooth motion that does not sacrifice arm strength)
  • Mobility: 6/10 ( decent athleticism, but does not run a lot. That being said the player we saw vs Georgia utilized his legs a lot more so there may be upside here)
  • Pocket Presence: 4/10 (Panics too quickly, runs into pass rushers and out of clean pockets, gets jumpy if first read is not there, yet is also hesitant to take off in those situations)
  • Poise: 6/10 (Not afraid of contact when throwing but has a tendency to throw off of back foot against blitzers/pressure that needs to be worked on
  • Progressions: 6/10: (was not required to do a ton because most first reads were open, but did progress through reads sometimes, needs to be quicker though and learn to go third reads and not panic when the first read is not there)

Prospect Grade: 56/80; 70% ( Pro Bowl Potential)

Projected Draft Day: Day 1

Player Comparison: Jameis Winston

Player Summary:

Stroud had maybe the best receiving room in college football last year, and this year is not much worse. However he should not be knocked for that. He has one of the cleanest motions you will see and very good arm strength. He has a lot of potential but needs to work on accuracy  on short throws and on the run, pocket presence, and progressions. It is worth noting that the player seen against Georgia in the Peach Bowl was a whole tier higher prospect wise. He was much more mobile, he used his legs to create on the ground and rolling out. These things rarely are seen on tape before this game and if it is a sign of things to come he could be much more than a pro bowl potential player.
