Player: Alec Pierce
School: Cincinnati
Height and Weight: 6’3”, 211
Combine Results:
- 40: 4.41
- Bench:
- Broad Jump: 40.5’
- Vertical Jump: 129’
- 3 Cone: 7.13
- Shuttle: 4.28
- Other Notes: Pierce is another player that had elite size and speed testing at the combine, a big riser due to his jumps looked decent at the positional drills
Strengths: very good size and speed combination, has a lot of experience against press coverage, pretty good strength in frame,
Weaknesses: not overly fluid athlete despite potential, looks clunky at times when running routes, speed is definitely more long than short area quickness, average route running, struggles to play through contact when corners get a hand on him in press
Projected Draft Day: Day 2
Player Comparison: Donovan Peoples-Jones
Player Summary: Alec Pierce projects as a decent deep threat at the next level. He has the size and speed to be elite, but other traits suggest it may take him a while to become a legitimate threat, or he may be an average number two or three (and never ascending to more). Think of DPJ on the Browns. He has flashed, and was a similar athletic profile coming out, but has not put it all together as of yet. We see a similar scenario with Pierce, where he can grow into a good deep threat, but lacks the short area quickness and route running to be a high volume player.
