Tom Brady’s retirement lasted about as long as everyone expected. He decided to come back for his 23rd season and reports are that it will be with the Bucs (and not teams like the 49ers that were rumored). He does this after leading the league in passing yards at 43, and was the runner-up for the league MVP. It is incredible that he continues to change the way longevity is thought of in the NFL. Regardless of whether you hate him or like him, the fact that he comes back and puts the Bucs right back into Super Bowl contention, at 44, is just crazy to think about. As far as any ripple effects, the weak NFC just added a much needed contender as it appeared the Rams could just run away with the NFC for a second straight Super Bowl appearance. It is still possible, but the Bucs are now the biggest threats to the Rams. It also may cause more free agents to return to the team than initially thought. It also allows the Bucs to buy more time in finding Brady’s successor as Kyle Trask does not seem to be the answer.
