The Gridiron Review’s 2024 NFL Draft Best Picks Day 3
Pick 106- Cedric Gray to the Tennessee Titans
When you google what defense Dennard Wilson runs this is what comes up Wilson said the defense will be attacking, and violent, in its approach. Wilson said the defense will blitz, will play coverage, play man-to-man, and plans to be “multiple in everything we do.” There could not be a better fit for Gray.
Pick 108- Khyree Jackson to the Minnesota Vikings
Flores lacks height in his CB room. Jackson has a rare blend of size, length, athleticism, fluidity, and footwork that Flores is going to be able to get the most out of.
Pick 110- Javon Baker to the New England Patriots
Baker was a borderline first round talent for us. We are not sure why he fell, but we are sure that he is a better player than Polk. Do not be shocked if he quickly makes his way into the starting lineup ahead of Polk and is more than just average.
Pick 111- Evan Williams to the Green Bay Packers
The Packers took DB Javon Bullard yesterday and now add a S/Nickel hybrid in Williams today. They are going to be able to give a TON of looks defensively next year. Love what they are doing
Pick 114- Javon Foster to the Jacksonville Jaguars
Foster could’ve in theory played Day 1, but now he ends up in a situation where he can sit and develop his lower body mechanics for a year or two under Cam Robinson.
Pick 121- AJ Barner to the Seattle Seahawks
Barner has the makings of a good starter in this league. His hands, athleticism, and blocking should have him on the field early and possibly starting over Fant sooner than expected.
Pick 124- Malik Mustapha to the San Francisco 49ers
We didn’t get to scout Mustapha, but he seems to be in the same mold as the rest of the 49ers safety room. Great fit.
Pick 129- Isaac Guerrendo to the San Francisco 49ers
Perfect fit here. Guerrendo is a hard runner, has a ton of athleticism, and should be primed to take over once McCaffrey hangs them up. He is also a great compliment for the time being.
Pick 130- TJ Tampa to the Baltimore Ravens
The league really let Nate Wiggins fall to Baltimore, and now TJ Tampa. According to our rankings that’s 2 of our Top 3 CBs. Now add these two talented studs to a secondary that includes Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, Kyle Hamilton, and Marcus Williams. The league done F-ed up
Pick 131- Jared Wiley to the Kansas City Chiefs
FINALLY. The Chiefs address the tight end position after Travis Kelce. Not only that, but they got a massive steal. Wiley has massive upside and learning from Kelce for a year or two will pay off in dividends
Pick 132- Sione Vaki to the Detroit Lions
Vaki needs development as a DB and a RB. If Detroit traded up for him they have a plan in mind to use him in all 3 aspects of the game. They are going to get the most out of him.
Pick 133- Jaden Hicks to the Kansas City Chiefs
There are very few places where we believe Hicks has a chance to develop and have success, and KC was at the top of the list. Man heavy and blitz heavy, Spags is going to get everything he can from Hicks.
Pick 138- Xavier Thomas to the Arizona Cardinals
Whenever you are drafting on day 3, you either want safe picks or upside selections. Thomas is a massive upside selection. He has not really developed as expected at Clemson, but still has a ton of potential.
Pick 140- Cam Hart to the Los Angeles Chargers
Jeremiah said that his DB coach from Notre Dame is with Minter in LA, so that helps this grade, but we had Hart as a Round 4, so this is really good value. A bit of a development prospect, but at this point that’s what you’re drafting. Lots to work with, height, weight, speed guy who looked really fluid at the Combine.
Pick 143- JD Bertrand to the Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta doesn’t have a LB like Bertrand in the room. Lacks the athleticism of other guys, but some of the best instincts in the class should have him playing early.
Pick 145- Kris Abrams-Draine to the Denver Broncos
Great value, and a great CB2 to pair with Surtain.
Pick 149- Josh Newton to the Cincinnati Bengals
Great value. Don’t be surprised if he competes for a starting spot or at least snaps very early on.
Pick 155- Jeremiah Trotter Jr to the Philadelphia Eagles
The pick we all waited for. At least one team took a legacy pick.
Pick 160- Edefuan Ulofoshio to the Buffalo Bills
The Bills LB room lacks an early downs thumper, and that’s exactly what they are getting in Ulofoshio… with some upside. Early in his career, expect him to rotate with Bernard.
Pick 162- Christian Jones to the Arizona Cardinals
One of the best value picks in the draft. We had a Round 1 grade on Jones and believes he’s in the mold of 2023 Prospect Broderick Jones. Expect Jones to impress early and don’t be surprised if Arizona shuffles their line around to get him in the mix early.
Pick 168- Javon Soloman to the Buffalo Bills
He is undersized but has a ton of production and can learn from Von Miller. There is starter upside here.
Pick 170- Bub Means to the New Orleans Saints
Size and speed prospect with a lot of upside. Should help as a deep threat while he continues to develop.
Pick 171- Jordan Travis to the New York Jets
Travis is injured, but legitimately could be the heir apparent to Rodgers after a couple seasons. Absolutely LOVE this pick.
Pick 172- Trevor Keegan to the Philadelphia Eagles
A starter and team captain for the Michigan National Championship team, Keegan may not compete right away, but will be a great backup early on and it’s a great fit for both sides.
Pick 175- Jaylan Ford to the New Orleans Saints
We were hoping to see Ford play in a 3-4 scheme where he could play outside on early downs and off ball on 3rd downs, but this isn’t a bad fit for a 4-3 team. Ford now gets to learn from one of the best LBs in the game in DeMario Davis as well as “vets” Willie Gay and Pete Werner. Saints are making the case to have the best LB room in all of football.
Pick 185- Johnny Wilson to the Philadelphia Eagles
Not many players on day 3 have the unique size profile that Johnny Wilson. He is massive and can be a red zone menace once he further develops. There is also the fall back of him moving to TE, but it is not a necessity.
Pick 190- Dylan McMahon to the Philadelphia Eagles
McMahon is an undersized center who we believed could start in the right situation. People are calling him a backup, but make no mistake he should be right there competing with Cam Jurgers and Tyler Steen for a starting role on the interior of this OL.
Pick 206- Nathaniel Watson to the Cleveland Browns
Very similar to the Olufoshio pick, the Browns have added a lot of “smaller”/3rd down type LBs like Hicks and Bush. They are missing a bruising early downs LB and Watson is just that. An ideal fit for Watson, expect him to rotate with Bush and/or Hicks as a rookie.
Pick 208- Dylan Laube to the Las Vegas Raiders
Us Zamir White truthers are on cloud 9. However, they got a steal in Laube. He should pair extremely well with Zamir and immediately becomes one of the better 3rd down backs in football.
Pick 210- Christian Mahogany to the Detroit Lions
Mahogany has been described as having some “asshole” in him. That’s a Dan Campbell type of pick. Mahogany will bite knee caps.
Pick 222- Javontae Jean-Baptiste to the Washington Commanders
The former 4 star recruit never fully developed in college, but has an enticing size speed profile that you do not always find in round 7. Like KJ Henry last year, they take an upside swing at pass rusher on day 3.
Pick 225- Brenden Rice to the Los Angeles Chargers
We are puzzled as to why he fell. There were no red flags that we are aware of and he has the upside of a WR2 in this league. It is an amazing pick for a team that lack depth even with Ladd’s selection.
Pick 226- Jaden Davis to the Arizona Cardinals
A highly slept on CB out of Miami, don’t be surprised if you see Davis starting at nickel this year for Arizona. He’s fun to watch when he’s lined up in the slot.
Pick 231- Jaheim Bell to the New England Patriots
Like Rice, we are not quite sure why he fell this far. Bell is a very smooth athlete and route runner who should be able to stick in this league. Us and many others saw him in the 2nd-4th round range but the Pats got him in the 7th.
Pick 241- Tahj Washington to the Kansas City Chiefs
We like both receiver picks for the Dolphins on day 3, and both have similar play styles and builds. However, we like this one more. Tahj has the short area quickness, yac potential, and speed that profiles like Hill. Not saying he is Hill, but this is a pick that could have massive implications in a couple years.
Pick 242- James Williams to the Tennessee Titans
Announced as a safety, Williams is built to be a LB through and through… Just watch the Senior Bowl. He will most likely start as a 3rd down backer and ST Ace behind Murray and Gray, but make no mistake he’s here to replace Murray when his contract is up. Gray and Williams will be one of the best young LB duos in a couple years.
