2024 NFL Draft’s Worst Prospect Team Fits: Atlanta Falcons Whole Draft Class

It is in our opinion that the Atlanta Falcons made 2 good selections in this whole class. That would be Bralen Trice at pick 74 and JD Bertrand at pick 143. The problem with this, they also reached on multiple other players that have similar profiles and play styles. Ruke Orhorhoro was an absolutely BRUTAL pick when they traded up for him in the second. No one was taking him, they sacrificed capital to get him, and he was not even a top 5 available at the position. They then tripled down with Brandon Dorlus at pick 109 with their third DT/DE hybrid in 4 picks.

This does not even take into account the absolute head scratcher that was Michael Penix. In our opinion, Penix was a fringe 1st rounder that could have started sooner rather than later as sitting would not really benefit him. He is on the older side, and likely has reached his developmental ceiling. You know where one of the worst places for him to go was? To a team that just signed their current QB to a massive deal. Regardless of if they can get out of the deal after two years, you likely pissed off Cousins and passed on taking a premium talent at almost any other position. They claimed to want to go the Jordan Love route, however you would be interested to know that Love sat for 3 years, started in his 4th, and is only a year older than Penix is now. The new regime had a ton of promise heading into the draft and killed all momentum this fanbase may have had.
