2024 NFL Draft’s Best Prospect Team Fits: Terrion Arnold & Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

The 21 teams(Bears and Vikings picked twice) who picked before Detroit need to be punished for their actions. There’s no way around it, the Lions CB room last year was atrocious. Cam Sutton was getting picked on like he was Scott Malkinson from South Park and every QB/WR was Eric Cartman. We aren’t going to get into the whole CB room, but let’s just note that you know it’s bad when the Lions were starting Kindle Vildor.

The Lions were a secondary away from a Super Bowl appearance and SOMEHOW at Pick 24, the Lions were able to land arguably the best CB in the class in Terrion Arnold. Atlanta, Denver, Las Vegas, Indy, Minnesota, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville ALL could’ve drafted a CB. Now granted, some of them had high end players fall to them or took a position of greater need, but that’s 8 teams who had ALL the CBs fall into their lap. That’s not even counting Philly who had Terrion Arnold fall right into their lap and they took Quinyon Mitchell who we believed was overhyped.

The Lions really came into the draft and not only completed their Infinity Gauntlet, but did so with arguably the best CB in the class. Not to mention, Arnold is 1000% a Dan Campbell type of player. He’s a leader, he’s a CB that plays with a safety mentality, and he’s really good at what he does. Not to mention he’s only been playing CB for two years, and most likely has a whole nother level of play to unlock with DC Aaron Glenn.

That’s literally just Arnold. In the 2nd Round, the NFL let them land Ennis Rakestraw Jr. from Missouri. Rakestraw was our 4th ranked Nickel defender. He’s another CB who loves to play from press and be physical, who tackles really well and loves to try to strip the ball out. People will argue that they already have Brian Branch in the Nickel, but Rakestraw has inside-outside versatility and it just gives Glenn and the Lions more opportunity to give different looks in the secondary. The Lions are going to be a problem.
