2024 NFL Draft’s Best Prospect Team Fits: Payton Wilson

One of the bigger steals of this year’s draft is when the Steelers landed NC State LB Payton Wilson in the 3rd round. Wilson, who was arguably LB1 among the consensus, fell due to medicals, which isn’t shocking. The shock was to find out that he had a shoulder injury that wasn’t really talked about and he has no ACL.

Now granted, it’s not the be all. Steelers great Hines Ward didn’t have an ACL, and he panned out just fine. Now retired LB Thomas Davis had like 3 torn ACLs and still was one of the best LBs of the 2010’s. There were some talking about Wilson as a one contract player. At Pick 98, the 3rd Round… even if Wilson is a one contract player, the caliber of player he has the potential to be will be worth it for four years. This is an absolute steal. He will not only fit into Pittsburgh’s defense, but Pittsburgh in general. He is a “bring your lunch pail” and get to work kind of guy, and Pittsburgh is going to love that like always.
