2024 NFL Draft’s Best Prospect Team Fits: Nate Wiggins, Beau Brade, & TJ Tampa

To the surprise of no one, the Ravens had an unbelievable draft… that’s on the defensive side of the ball at least. The Ravens had our CB1 Nate Wiggins fall into their lap at the 30th overall pick. Later in the draft the Ravens had our CB3 TJ Tampa fall into their lap at pick 130. Later that same Sunday they had our S1 Beau Brade fall into their lap as a UDFA. The front seven in Baltimore was never the question, it was the guys playing behind them. Marlon Humphrey has had a healthy career… for the most part. Brandon Stephens finally emerged as an important piece for this secondary. Kyle Hamilton fell into their lap at Pick 14 in the 2022 Draft. You can’t make up the luck Baltimore has had with their secondary pieces.

The Ravens continue(for the most part) to draft the best player available every year and it’s turned into a team that is competing in the playoffs for a Super Bowl opportunity year in and year out. With Marcus Williams injuries building up a little bit over the last couple years in Baltimore and in general the health of the secondary seemingly always in question the Ravens are now stacked if they can make a healthy run this year.

Wiggins is a prospect who we think can play high level football now, but also has another level to unlock. Tampa is in a similar boat. We thought he needed to go to a man heavier team as his zone can be a bit worrisome at times, but you best bet he’s going to get the time AND development he needs in Baltimore. Tampa may not be more than a high end back up/special teamer at first, but in a year or so don’t be surprised if he’s playing high level football in Baltimore. Wiggins is going to compete with Stephens for snaps off the bat, but what all of these draftings/signings mean is more versatility for one of the most versatile defenses in all the NFL.

Look how much three safety looks Baltimore gave with Geno Stone in 2023, they should be able to do the same with Brade. This is the Ravens current secondary:

Cornerback

  • Marlon Humphrey
  • Brandon Stephens
  • Nate Wiggins
  • TJ Tampa

Nickel

  • Arthur Maulet
  • Ar’Darius Washington

Safety

  • Kyle Hamilton
  • Marcus Williams
  • Beau Brade

This has to be one of the best units in football.
