2024 NFL Draft’s Best Prospect Team Fits: Kamari Lassiter & Calen Bullock

DeMeco Ryans and staff in their second year continue to absolutely crush the draft. The Texans weakness on defense was their secondary last year, and to be fair even that is kind of nit picky for a team who absolutely blew all expectations out the water. The Texans added weapons all across the board from the beginning of the offseason through the draft. The Texans on paper have one of the best cases to make a Super Bowl run this year. This secondary that Ryans just added to is going to be a MASSIVE reason why we think the Texans will be able to stand toe-to-toe with the top dogs in a power house AFC.

The Texans getting Kamari Lassiter at Pick 42 is almost as bad as the Lions getting Terrion Arnold at Pick 24. We knew all along that Arnold was going to get taken before Lassiter, but it never took away(for us) that Lassiter was a 1st Round pick. Lassiter might not have the extra level to unlock like Wiggins, Arnold, and Tampa, but he’s ready to go right now. For those CB needy teams who wanted Arnold we thought that Lassiter was basically a 2nd Arnold. A leader, a team first type of player who loves his guys more than anyone with an ability to give fits to receivers inside or outside, who’s never been afraid to hit and be aggressive. You just gave that type of player to one of the best defensive minds in all of football, and even after just one year arguably one of the best HCs in the NFL right now. Not to mention the Texans already addressed CB in FA with the additions of Jeff Okudah and CJ Henderson, both former Top 10 picks. Assuming everyone stays healthy(big if especially with Okudah), Lassiter is slotted right now to start in the slot for the Texans. That’s a wildly scary thought for teams who have to play them. Lassiter should THRIVE in the slot.

Ladies and gents, that’s just at CB. In the 3rd round the Texans added a man by the name of Calen Bullock, a safety from USC. We weren’t as high on Bullock as others were, we think he has a low floor, but a super high ceiling. We wanted him to go somewhere we felt he could develop, and Houston was about as good a landing spot as you can get. With Pitre and Ward there, Bullock doesn’t necessarily have to be a 3 Down starter right off the bat, he can sit and develop or be a role player to start. With Ward’s injury history, Bullock will most likely get pushed to action earlier than one may think, but we feel better about it with him being in Houston.
